Check out our Where’s Owie? page.
Here’s our travelogue of this wonderful trip.
To start out, here’s where my head was at a few days before departure…and some of the planning we did before the trip.
After planning this thing for so long, we finally left home and made it to our first destination. We spent a day touring Versailles and the cathedral in Chartres, then headed a bit further south to Amboise.
From there, we checked out another cool castle, then made a leap to Sarlat.
In this wonderful place, we explore a few interesting diversions, then spend the day in the city itself.
We head further south to Carcassonne, orient ourselves to the city and learn how to deal with each other on this long trip, find our own way to celebrate France’s national holiday, beat the crowds and the heat, and cycle around town, then end our visit to Carcassone with a tour of some old castle ruins.
From there, we drive to Aix en Provence, spend a day at a water park, visit a city where van Gogh hung out, catch more art history with Cezanne and tour the city of Aix, search in vain for some lavender, add Picasso to the onslaught of art, and hang out for our final day in Provence.
We then head north to Beaune and spend a relaxing day in that region before pushing further north into Paris. There, we play our bribery card by visiting Euro Disney, explore a part of the Louvre, visit catacombs, cemeteries and more museums, climb the Eiffel Tower (via the elevator), and then return home to conclude the trip of a lifetime!
Hope you enjoy the ride!
